Greener than Grass: Sustainable Landscaping

Sunday, April 18, 3-4:30 pm

Turfgrass is America's #1 crop...yet has no ecological value whatsoever. Learn to landscape more sustainably, replacing your lawn with no-mow alternatives that offer food and beauty to pollinators, wildlife, you, and your family. Taught by SM's Executive Director, Sari Carp. Spaces are limited, and registration is required

What's Up with Recycling?
Monday, April 19, 7-8 pm

Wondering why you can't recycle most plastic or glass anymore? Or whether what you throw into the recycle bins really gets recycled? Join us for a deep dive into the recycling industry, and find out what individuals can do to help the system work. What's Up With Recycling? is a panel discussion with the ultimate experts: Patrick Felling, Director of Solid Waste, Shenandoah County; Michael Neese, Recycling Manager, City of Winchester; and Gloria Puffinburger, Director of Solid Waste, Frederick County. The event is free to attend, but registration is required. Thank you to Regulus Group for sponsoring this program!

Stay tuned in April for news on Auction for the Earth, our Earth Month fundraiser benefiting SM's new program, Backyard Food Bank: Grow Your Own. Auction items will include a VIP Tour of Route 11 Chips, a drone video of your property, a private Wine & Cheese Seminar from the Woodstock Café, and more.
