WAGE AND BENEFIT SURVEY UPDATE

OPEN THROUGH FRIDAY, NOV 9th

The Chamber Board encourages every business and nonprofit organization to take the Wage and Benefit Survey. Here is the link:

https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/4645854/Greater-Augusta-Wage-Benefit-Survey

Some important points we'd like to share with you about this important survey:

  •  Mangum Economics is conducting the survey for the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce, the Highland County Chamber of Commerce, the Lexington-Rockbridge County Chamber of Commerce, the Luray-Page County Chamber of Commerce, the Shenandoah Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the Central Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge.
  • This is a survey of businesses and nonprofit organizations in Augusta County, Buena Vista, Harrisonburg, Highland County, Lexington, Page County, Rockbridge County, Rockingham County, Shenandoah County, Staunton, and Waynesboro.
  •  The result of this regional initiative will be a collection of data that will be used for many years to come. Not only will this work be used over that broad period of time, but it will be used by regional employers, all our chambers of commerce, economic development departments, workforce development organizations, non-profit organizations, planning districts, and many others. The final report will be the go to source for information about what our region offers its workforce.... The instrument is designed to capture data for all sizes of business, for profit and not for profit, all industry types and jobs within those industries, and a broad range of both traditional and non-traditional benefits to employees. We are excited to see the outcome and anticipate a roll out of the report sometime after the first of the year."
  • All survey data is encrypted. Mangum Economics will keep all responses confidential; and once we complete the report on the results, we will destroy all of the survey responses.
  •  Completing the survey should take only 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the number of employees. The survey has 3 parts:
  1.  Four general questions about an organization's locations, number of employees, and for-profit/nonprofit status.
  2. Check boxes for the benefits that an organization may offer to full-time employees.
  3. A fill-in-the-blank section on the number of full-time employees in a list of occupations and the wage that the full-time employees earn.

    October 23, 2018

    Dear Chamber Member,

I wanted to prepare you for a special survey that will be delivered to you via email on October 24. A comprehensive wage and benefit survey hasn’t been done across the spectrum in our region in 10 years or more. This project is a partnership of our Chamber and the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber, Lexington, Rockbridge County, Buena Vista Chamber, Highland County Chamber, Luray-Page County Chamber and the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber.

The result of this regional initiative will be a collection of data that will be used for many years to come. Not only will this work be used over that broad period of time, but it will be used by regional employers, all our chambers of commerce, economic development departments, workforce development organizations, non-profit organizations, planning districts, and many others. The final report will be the go to source for information about what our region offers its workforce.

Mangum Economics has been contracted to perform the study. All answers to the survey will be kept confidential by Mangum Economics. Once the report on the survey results is completed, all responses will be destroyed. The survey and the report on the results of the survey are being conducted in full compliance with the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Federal Trade Commission antitrust safety zone for wage and benefit surveys.

The instrument is designed to capture data for all sizes of business, for profit and not for profit, all industry types and jobs within those industries, and a broad range of both traditional and non-traditional benefits to employees. We are excited to see the outcome and anticipate a roll out of the report sometime after the first of the year. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this very important survey. If you have questions don’t hesitate to give me a call.

    Best,

    Sharon Baroncelli

    Executive Director
