Discussion:  "Community Giving Day Info Session”

Amanda Bomfim, Director of Marketing & Program Initiatives, The Community Foundation of Harrisonburg & Rockingham County, will be joining us to share information about the Great Community Give. 

The Great Community Give is an initiative of The Community Foundation of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. #GCG2023 is a sunrise to sunset giving day event that promotes charitable giving directly to nonprofits in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County that raised over $1.7 million in 2022.  We will hear how this event started, what makes it successful and have the chance to talk about how we could utilize a similar Giving Day in Shenandoah County.

• Shenandoah Community Foundation is accepting grant applications from local nonprofit groups for arts funding from its Bowman-Shannon Cultural Arts Fund. The grant requests must be arts-related, but the organization’s mission does not need to be focused on the arts. For instance, a grant for art supplies might be requested by a daycare center; musical instruments by an afterschool program; or tickets to attend theatrical plays by a senior center. Applications are due on or before February 17, and must be completed through the online grant portal. Questions? Call (540) 465-1444.
